I thought Kinky was really interesting and a funny way of making fun of Barbie. I found the poems kind of tragic in a way because some of them dealt with Barbie wanting to change or be different but not being able to. It was like she couldn't think for herself. Especially in the poem Hippie Barbie, "after all she was born into a world of capitalism where nothing is free. And all she had to choose from was a blond or dark-haired Ken who looked exactly like Midge's boyfriend Alan." Here I see this image of a Barbie who wants to be free but can't because everything is already planned out for her. She's supposed to be this perfect "ideal" woman, but deep down I think that Barbie is unhappy and that smile on her face is fake.
